During the meal, Debbie contrives that Walker and Skye should spend the following day together. Walker seizes the opportunity to get to know Skye better.
Returning from Seattle after the discovery of a tanker full of chemicals, Walker seeks Skye out. She invites him to stay for dinner, and unable to deny her feelings any longer, makes love with him. They spend the next three days together. But Walker departs suddenly, when he learns his office is Seattle is broken into, leaving Skye on her own. All Skye’s old insecurities come back to haunt her, and she telephones Debbie, who pushes her into revealing what happened last year. But the horrors of those events are such that Skye passes out on the bathroom floor.
In the meantime John, Skye’s London-based business partner, is experiencing problems with the new software he and Skye have developed. He contacts her, and Skye agrees to check the code. When Walker returns he finds Skye staring at a screen of computer code. He immediately accuses her of being involved, but despite Skye’s protests of innocence, he doesn’t believe her, and keeps her captive in the cabin. John, anxious to find out what’s happening, arrives from England and reveals Skye’s true identity. Walker asks for their help, and reluctantly Skye agrees, on condition that Walker has nothing further to do with her once the investigation is over. While Walker is interviewing the manager of a waste management plant, Skye makes her escape back to England, her emotional life once more in tatters.
In
pursuit of the eco-criminals, Walker is severely injured, and it’s seven months before he is able to
follow Skye. He goes
to London
, on the pretext of taking Skye back to Seattle with him for the court hearing, but is confronted by John, who
tells him Skye has agreed to marry him.
Skye refuses to accompany Walker, who tells her if she
marries John, she will regret it for the rest of her life.
Skye is in a quandary.
Does she marry for security or does she go with Walker, the
man she truly loves?
